Karawang, 11 June 2026 – To commemorate World Environment Day, the PLN Energi Primer Indonesia (PLN EPI) Group collaborated on a project to plant 1,680 mangroves in the coastal area of Tanjungpakis, Karawang Regency, West Java. This initiative serves as a tangible demonstration of the company’s commitment to supporting environmental conservation, preserving the resilience of coastal ecosystems, and contributing to climate change mitigation efforts.
The activity involved various entities within the PLN EPI Group, including PLN Energi Gas, as part of the company’s synergy in implementing the principles of sustainability and environmental and social responsibility. The mangrove planting was carried out through a collaborative effort involving company employees and stakeholders to provide long-term benefits for the environment and the surrounding community.
Mangroves play a vital role in maintaining the balance of coastal ecosystems. In addition to serving as a natural barrier against coastal erosion and seawater intrusion, mangroves also provide habitat for various species and contribute to carbon sequestration, which supports efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
PLN Energi Gas Corporate Secretary Elok Faiqoh Saptining Ratri stated that this activity is part of the company’s commitment to creating added value for the environment and the community.
“Through this collaborative effort to plant 1,680 mangrove trees, PLN Energi Gas and the PLN EPI Group are demonstrating a tangible commitment to supporting environmental conservation and sustainable development. We believe that every small step taken collectively can have a significant impact on the sustainability of ecosystems and the quality of life for future generations,” said Elok.
In line with this, Astronaut, Manager of Health, Safety, and Environment (K3L) at PLN Energi Gas, emphasized that environmental conservation is an integral part of implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles within the company.
“Mangrove planting not only contributes to coastal rehabilitation efforts but also represents a concrete step by the company in supporting environmental resilience against the impacts of climate change. This activity reflects the spirit of collaboration and the commitment of PLN EPI Group employees to safeguarding environmental sustainability,” explained Astronaut.
World Environment Day serves as a reminder that protecting the Earth is a shared responsibility. Through this mangrove planting initiative, the PLN EPI Group hopes to make a positive contribution to environmental conservation, raise public awareness of the importance of preserving coastal ecosystems, and support the realization of a greener and more sustainable future.
This initiative is also in line with the PLN Group’s commitment to supporting the sustainable development agenda and an environmentally responsible energy transition, with the aim of creating added value for the community, the environment, and the Indonesian nation.
