PT PLN Energi Gas Director of Operations Visits Tanjung Batu Gas Station to Strengthen Operational Reliability and Safety
Samarinda, 8 April 2026 – PT PLN Energi Gas Director of Operations, Mohammad Faradhy, paid a working visit to the Tanjung Batu Gas Station as part of a Management Site Visit. This activity is part of the company’s efforts to ensure the operational reliability of its gas infrastructure while strengthening the comprehensive implementation of workplace safety measures.
The visit began with a safety induction session as a demonstration of the company’s commitment to fostering a culture of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). This underscores that every operational activity within PT PLN Energi Gas always prioritizes safety as the top priority.
During the visit, the Director of Operations personally inspected various key facilities at the Tanjung Batu Gas Station, ranging from the security post, safety corner, material warehouse, Temporary Storage Site (TPS) for hazardous waste, to the control room. This inspection focused on ensuring the readiness of operational support facilities and compliance with applicable standard procedures.
In the control room, an in-depth discussion was held with operators regarding the control system, gas flow monitoring, and risk mitigation mechanisms implemented in daily operations. The integrated control system is key to maintaining the stability of gas distribution, including the ability to detect potential disruptions early and respond quickly to minimize operational impacts.
The visit then continued to the process area for a hands-on inspection of the condition of operating equipment and instruments. During this visit, the technical understanding of field personnel was also assessed, including operating procedures, maintenance, and emergency response protocols. This is a crucial part of ensuring that operational reliability is supported not only by infrastructure but also by the competence of human resources.
The Tanjung Batu Gas Station is part of the Tanjung Batu Gas Pipeline Project, which spans approximately 48.3 kilometers with a 16-inch pipe diameter and a transmission capacity of up to 80 BBTUD. This infrastructure functions to transport gas from the supply source to the power plant, replacing the High Speed Diesel (HSD) fuel previously used.
In terms of reliability, this project was designed with a focus on efficiency and sustainability. The gas pipeline system utilizes existing Right-of-Way (ROW) corridors, thereby minimizing the risk of external disruptions and enhancing operational safety. Additionally, the use of an integrated monitoring and control system enables real-time monitoring of pressure, flow, and pipeline network conditions.
The reliability of energy supply is one of the key values of this project. With a capacity of up to 80 BBTUD, this infrastructure is capable of maintaining a stable and sustainable energy supply to power plants. This not only improves operational efficiency but also significantly contributes to lowering energy costs by reducing the use of oil-based fuels.
Furthermore, this project also offers strategic benefits in strengthening national energy resilience. By utilizing domestic gas sources and a more efficient distribution system, PT PLN Energi Gas is helping to support the transition toward cleaner, more environmentally friendly, and sustainable energy.
On this occasion, Mohammad Faradhy emphasized the importance of maintaining operational reliability standards across the board. “Operational reliability is key to ensuring the continuity of the energy supply. Good infrastructure must be supported by reliable systems and competent human resources. Through this visit, we want to ensure that all these aspects are functioning optimally, so that operations can proceed safely, efficiently, and sustainably,” he said.
Meanwhile, the CEO of PT PLN Energi Gas, Edwin Bangun, noted in a separate statement that management site visits are part of the company’s commitment to maintaining the operational quality of strategic projects. “We continue to ensure that every piece of infrastructure we operate is not only reliable but also meets the highest safety standards. Projects such as the Tanjung Batu Gas Pipeline are tangible proof of our contribution to providing efficient and sustainable energy solutions for Indonesia,” he said.
Through this activity, PT PLN Energi Gas reaffirms its commitment to continuously improving the reliability of gas infrastructure, strengthening a culture of workplace safety, and ensuring operational readiness to support the nation’s increasingly dynamic energy needs.
